Immediate Dentures
Our general dentists and oral surgeon work together with the apprehensive patient who requires full or partial dentures in combination with tooth removal. The general dentist will take all necessary impressions to fabricate the dentures before any or all teeth are removed. This avoids the embarassment or trauma of walking around without teeth.
The day the dentures are to be inserted, our staff oral surgeon does an intravenous sedation and removes all the teeth requiring extraction. When the patient awakes from their sedation, the dentures are inserted. For this reason, the patient never has to suffer the stigmatism of family and co-workers seeing them without teeth.
The immediate denture also acts as a "band-aid" to protect the surgical area. In four to six months, after the area has fully healed, a new permanent denture is fabricated. This ensures a more secure fitting denture.
